Prudent Q & A with Shawn DeGrand | Administrative Coordinator - CI
SYRACUSE, NY
What do you do at Prudent?
I support our Construction Inspection Project Manager and field employees in all manner of things. From managing inventory, field supplies and orders, to timesheet and expense report reviews and project setups. I am here to make sure that the manager and inspectors have what they need, and that their work in the field translates into clean records and invoices.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is that I am not micromanaged. I have a large workload, with many tasks and deadlines to meet, but no one is ever looking over my shoulder and checking up on me. As long as the deadlines are met and the tasks are completed, I am allowed to do them in my own way, track things how I like, prioritize and manage my own daily to do list. I am given the freedom and trust to be responsible for my own workload.
Who or what has inspired your career path most in your life?
My family is my inspiration and motivation. I work hard to ensure I can support them and provide for them. I strive to make sure that I am doing my best, meeting the needs of my employer, completing the responsibilities assigned to me and staying gainfully employed so that I can continue to take care of them. “Work to live, don’t live to work”
