Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prudent is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer with design skills.
Scope of Duties:
The following are typical but not all-encompassing duties of this position:
- The ability to work independently, scheduling your time efficiently during business hours
- Take direction from engineering staff at other Prudent offices
- Stay on track and deliver on time
Development and / or analytical review of:
- Feasibility studies - conceptual designs – design calculations – final design specifications – engineering and construction cost estimates – support of permitting applications
- Participate in field condition inspections, safety assessments, and produce appropriate technical reports of findings
- Provide construction management field and office support as required
- Project management
- On occasion, represent Prudent Engineering at project meetings as needed
Qualifications:
- AAS Civil Tech (minimum) - BS Civil Engineering preferred
- NICET II – Highway Design
- EIT required, PE preferred, or the ability to obtain PE in New York State
- Experience with highway design, water control structures
- Understanding of the core principles of Hydrology and Hydraulics as related to open channel flow
- Stability analysis of civil structures
- Seismic assessment of civil structures and/or geotechnical analysis/design as well as dam safety/design and hydro generation a plus
- Proficient with: Structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, Finite element software, HEC- RAS, MicroStation (inroads), Autodesk AutoCAD, MS Office Software, and Project Management
- Additional experience with any of the following would be a plus: bridge design, design of earthworks, GIS, Stream Bed and Bank Stabilization, survey, emergency action plans, fish passage, wetland identification, or water control structure operations
Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000*
